Witches Quarry Meet Report

06/04/2016 by Vikki Leave a Comment

A brilliant turn out last night, 8 of us climbed at Witches Quarry.

Rather cold on the fingers but the sun did show itself occasionally.

I’m pleased to report that no climbers were hit by falling rock, turnips, sheep lambs or other J (yes, all of these are a possibility at Witches!)

A lovely night with ascents of the classics –  Crack Lap (HS), Serenity (S), Halloween Outing (S) and The Reeve (VS)

We climbed until the sun set and then headed to the Assherton Arms in Downham for a beer.

Happy Days 🙂

Eastby 30/03/16

31/03/2016 by Vikki Leave a Comment

4 rather cold but very happy climbers rocked up at Eastby last night for the first outdoor meet of the season.

Two teams managed six routes including Mantelshelves (HS 3c), a harsh re-introduction back into gritstone climbing after a winter of plastic!  The classic Eastby Buttress (gotta be done) and the (in my opinion) best gritstone route ever – Piller Rib (VS 4c).

Eastby

The sun shone bright until it disappeared behind the crag and we descended with smiles! 🙂

Ingleborough walk report

18/01/2016 by Andy Hudson Leave a Comment

ingwalkFollowing the deluge that forced cancellation of the previous attempt of this walk we couldn’t have had a better day for the second attempt. Ten of us (plus Stitch and Fudge) enjoyed glorious blue skies,  sunshine and plenty of snow on this walk. We enjoyed lunch on a windless summit and only on the very last section did the weather change bringing a few snow flurries.

Thanks all for a great day out.Andy

Rylstone – Meet report

25/06/2015 by CMCAdmin Leave a Comment

Ryl2Three of us plus one guest wandered up to Rylstone on a warm evening under blue skies, a perfect evening to be up on a moorland Gritstone outcrop.

Starting out on the “must do” Presidents Slab, we moved onto “Bad Boys”, following this Steve decided to do Twin cracks (ignoring the luminous green and bird poo!), following this up with Falcon Crack, Monkey Corner and a top rope inspection of Angry Woman.  Andy and myself decided on Senators Saunter (pictured), Misty Moo and Dead Kennedy’s.

High Stoney Bank

17/06/2015 by CMCAdmin Leave a Comment

Five of us headed over to the beautiful valley containing the Stoney Banks.  Erica, Chris and Tony led the early charge with Roger and myself following up later.High S

Quite a fresh wind was blowing down the valley meaning we were all quite keen to keep moving, fortunately this is easy to do at High Stoney with it’s mixture of sport and trad, and particularly at the left hand end short bolted routes at accessible grades.

Some routes completed were Mutton Jeff, What Remains, Pinnacle Flake, King Flush and Candy’s Case.

With arms feeling heavier than they did on the walk in we retired to the Listers in Malham
