Ingleborough walk report

18/01/2016 by Andy Hudson Leave a Comment

ingwalkFollowing the deluge that forced cancellation of the previous attempt of this walk we couldn’t have had a better day for the second attempt. Ten of us (plus Stitch and Fudge) enjoyed glorious blue skies,  sunshine and plenty of snow on this walk. We enjoyed lunch on a windless summit and only on the very last section did the weather change bringing a few snow flurries.

Thanks all for a great day out.Andy

An enjoyable afternoons sport climbing in the sun was had by Andy Barton, Dave Wynne and myself. The crag was a little cool on the hands at first but soon warmed up. Ascents of mutton jeff, lamp chops, mist over malham, stone of tears, high flyer and pinnacle flake were made albeit the latter 2 only fully by Dave and Andy. As i struggled to get the top off  my beer last night i knew my arms had had a good workout (and for those that say use your feet its only relevant when there is something to put your feet on)

Attermire report

08/06/2015 by Andy Hudson Leave a Comment

A good days climbing was had at Attermire by the 7 of us. John, Phil and I started on The Gangway and we were then joined by Jo, Shirley and Dave and later John W. After The Gangway I then headed off with Jo to get slightly battered by the wind on Ginger and even more so on Zig Zag. We then decided we could either have sunshine or shelter but not both and the latter won the day so we returned for some shelter and lunch on the middle tier of the main wall.

I then took on layback which John W had told me was a good route (mmmm), After the first well protected crack fatigue took over and that combined with the rockfax  route image been slightly wrong led to some colourful language and an unnecessary traverse but eventually the route was done and Jo and John followed me up. In between all this various ascents were made by everyone else including Striction, Census, Broken Chimney and Freeby.

All in all a reet grand day out.
