Meets Calendar

The first hut meet for some time will be at "The Smithy". That is the Gritstone Club's Hut near the north end of Thirlmere in the Lake District.

Bookings will open by email only to arrive on or after 2 Jan 2023. (There are only 9 places so book as soon as you can.) Cost will be £26 per person for two nights accommodation. Places available to Members and Prospective Members. If members wish to bring guests please give me a ring.

I have had some positive comments and no negative ones about having a Burn's Supper as a communal meal on the Sat evening. Joining in this is obviously optional so please let me know with your booking whether you want to join it and if so whether you are vegetarian or not, The cost and preparation of the supper to be shared.

Some more info for those who have little experience of huts:-
We will have use of the ground floor dormitory, which has 3 tier bunks with mattresses. Bring your own sleeping bag. Bring a pillow, if it is important to you.
There are good catering facilities for us to use communally and as individuals. You need to bring all your own food except for the Burn's Supper.
The sitting/dining room is comfortable and warm.

The hut is located about 100m off the A591 on the minor road to the Thirlmere dam. There may be road closed signs at the turn into the minor road but the closure is well beyond the Hut. The hut is entered via a gate on the left at GR NY 3153 1940 approx. Its location allows easy road access to much of the northern lakes and is obviously close to the Helvellyn range. You never know, we may even get a bit of Climbing done.
