Bosigran

12:00 AM – 1:00 AM
16/09/2026 – 23/09/2026

Staying at The Counts House, Bosigran is a great place for climbing and hiking, particularly for its famous Commando Ridge climb, which is considered one of the best V Diffs in England. It's a classic granite sea cliff area with a range of routes, though the famous ridge requires some experience and is not for a complete novice. For hikers, the stunning coastal and moorland scenery provides an excellent backdrop for walking, with the ridge itself offering an exhilarating, "mini-alpine" experience by the sea.

Why visit Bosigran

Unique sea-cliff experience: Bosigran provides a distinct climbing and hiking adventure on a large, textured granite sea-cliff high above the Atlantic Ocean. The experience includes the sounds of waves and the feel of the sea breeze, which many find exhilarating.

Challenging and varied routes: The crag offers a variety of climbing and hiking options, including multi-pitch routes like the famous "Doorpost" and the historic Commando Ridge.

Historical significance: Commando Ridge, also known as Bosigran Ridge, was used as a training ground for British commandos during World War II.

Breath-taking scenery: The location provides dramatic views of the rugged Cornish coast, a rocky cove, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Exhilarating exposure: The routes, particularly Commando Ridge, provide a high level of exposure, giving a mountain climbing feeling without the long approaches, as noted on UKClimbing

Suitable for all levels: Bosigran is popular for climbers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced climbers.

Local Hostelry: The Tinners Arms in Zennor is a pub dating to 1271 offering log fires and local ales.
