Windgather Rocks (Western Peak District)
–
23/05/2026
Windgather is one of the friendliest and most popular crags in the Peak District. The tasty grades and abundance of holds on most routes mean it is an ideal crag for just about anyone.
The shortest of walk in, 50 metres, flat, it is a wonderfully relaxed climbing day ahead.
Looking out toward the west, the cliff is inclined to catch any weather that is going, though this exposed aspect keeps the cliff free from lichen, and also helps it to dry immediately after rain. Windgather is at its most delightful on warm summer evenings when the setting can be enjoyed to the full.
There is some fine bouldering at the crag too, so bringing some boulder mats might be fun too.
