CMC CAVING SOCIAL
All Day
28/03/2026
10am Saturday 28th of March is our CMC Caving Social!
First of all, please let me reassure you that this will be a light caving trip suitable for all with no;
- Rope work
- Mandatory squeezes
- Full body submersion (ducks)
The caves we’ll be visiting are all very well-travelled, shallow and friendly. That being said with all such activity comes potential risk, so as with any climbing trip we must always use caution and keep an eye out for each other.
You’ll be able to hire any equipment you may need including, wellies, over suits, under suits, gloves, lids and lamps for the low price of £10 per person from our friends at Saaig Outdoors
The Dales Lodge in Ingleton will be our meeting point, where Craig has kindly offered to host us first thing whilst people get geared up and have a coffee ready to get going.
From there we can carpool where possible for the short drive to Ribblehead where we’ll park and walk in (5-10mins) to the first two cave systems. These are called Thistle and Runscar and will be a great test of confidence underground as they often emerge back into the light before dropping back down, allowing people to acclimatise to the subterranean feel. Depending on conditions and energy levels we can then go down the road to the Old Hill Inn and walk in (10 mins) to another cave called Great Douk which is a lovely active streamway passage.
If you’ve never been caving before then this will be a great taste of what people get up to down there. If you’ve got caving experience, then there are a few optional challenges along the way to keep it interesting.
If you’d like to join us or want more information, please let me know asap.
