Walk Details
This year’s walk begins at the Kingsdale park-up . We'll begin up to the Tow Scar trig point where we will hopefully get views of the lower Lune Valley as well as all the way across Morecambe Bay and as far over as the Southern Lakeland fells. We then make our way over to The Cheese Press Stone with its iconic views of Ingleborough to the East.
From there we join the Turbary road taking us along the western flank of Kingsdale past some incredible potholes until we drop down to Yordas Cave. Yordas Cave is an old Victorian show cave, and an absolute must see if you’ve not been before. It is very easily accessible and within a short entrance walk opens into the huge main chamber 55m long by 15m wide. Depending on water levels there is a 9m waterfall at the back of the cavern which is spectacular (if you like that sort of thing!). This is of course not compulsory, but I’d strongly recommend it. If you wish to take a look inside, please bring a light source.
From there we cross to the other side of Kingsdale following the valley south again past Braida Garth farm to Twistleton Scar End and eventually joining the old roman road that takes us back to the park-up.
