Saturday walk 14th March – Longridge Fell
14th March 2020
A delightful Lancashire walk from Hurst Green over Longridge Fell then by the Hodder and Ribble rivers, where JRR Tolkein got inspiration for the Shire in the Hobbit. We will also see the ancient bridge over which, in 1648, Oliver Cromwell took his 8,000 strong army enroute to the battle of Preston.
18 kilometres/11 miles. Around 400 metres of ascent.
Either meet at Gisburn village hall CP at 8.50am for car share ( GR SD 827 486), or at start of the walk at Hurst Green village hall CP ( GR SD 684 381) for a 9.30 start.
DOGS – Two well behaved dogs (ie on a lead) by prior arrangement with the Coordinator.
