A beautiful Wednesday evening at one of Yorkshires premier evening venue crags. Neglected by some for its northerly aspect, some of us accepted a little chill in return for the pleasures of magnificent rough moorland gritstone. We were rewarded with some superb climbing. On the recommendation of Keith I started off with ‘Indicator Crack’. It gave short traditional tussle, enough to get the forearms nicely warmed up. Obviously a very popular route it was climbed on by everyone present at the crag at the time (apart for some bloke walking his dog).
Unfortunately Dave Collier missed out on this one (arriving later) but made up for it with an ascent of ‘Tiger traverse’ as the sun set over this magnificent crag. Routes climbed included ‘Indicator Crack’ (S), Twin Cracks (HVD), Prow Buttress (MS) and Tiger Traverse (MVS).
Most of us adjourned for quiet reflection to the Dog and Gun. Some of this concentrated on how many layers of clothing we should bring next time – the consensus being a minimum of 6.
