Jesse Bryant | Evolène Ailefroide (Ecrins) Bondo (Bregaglia) Never camped in Innerkirken but good location for the Bernese Oberland and Grimsel as Pete says. There are a lot of mid-grade bolted multi-pitch mountain routes around the Gelmer and Bachlital huts with no glaciers to cross. The weather’s dicier than southern Alps but everywhere in the Alps is pretty unsettled and unpredictable these days. |
Pete Corrigan | Ailfroide is particularly good for ticking the boxes… claims 350 days of sunshine per year and not that rammed apart from August. I think Bondo got buried in an enormous mud slide. Vallorcine, (top of the Chamonix valley on the Swiss border), always works for me. As does Innertkirken, near Meiringen, in between the Bernese Oberland and the Grimsel Pass. Little village with a great campsite, on the doorstep single and multipitch cragging, some much bigger multipitch climbs, starting at F4, safe peaks and the campsite is south facing so get lots of sun unlike some of the higher alpine valleys which don’t get the sun until mid morning and lose it early evening. The club went there about 10 years ago and only scratched the surface. |

Hello all
We’ve received a message on the FB page from a photographer looking for climbers. His message is as below –
Would it be possible or one of your members to contact myself? I’m a photographer for the Yorkshire Post and would like to take a really good climbing picture in the Yorkshire Dales for the paper. I had thought about the overhang at Kilnsey Crag, although I’m open to any options. Or if someone knows an experienced climber that would be great. I was thinking about the overhang as a main picture. Possible cover for Country week on a Saturday.
Please contact me James Hardisty, Staff Photographer Yorkshire Post Newspapers on (M) 07710361117 or email me at james.hardisty@jpress.co.uk
