Sunshine in the High Pennines – A walk on Wildboar Fell and More with Dick on SAT 30 NOV 2019

29th November 2019 by Dick Leave a Comment

I am planning on a longish walk over Wildboar Fell from Garsdale Station at about 9.20am to Kirkby Stephen. I will probably continuing right into the Town for Refreshment (23km +720m Ascent) leaving a walk of about 3 km up to the station for an evening train back. It could be cut short if required by going straight off the fell into the station. (15.45 or 17.14 train)

We should have some fantastic views, and plenty of sunshine but remember a head torch. If anyone fancies joining me you will be very welcome. Please ring, text or email me if you are thinking about it

Christmas Quiz

25th November 2019 by Andy Hudson Leave a Comment

Time to brush up your music and mountaineering knowledge for this year’s Christmas quiz at the Cavendish on the 4th December. Starts at 8.00 pm but worth getting there early to bag a seat and some knowledgeable teammates.

Langdale and Selside.

14th November 2019 by fiona burnett 1 Comment

Great Langdale from Lingmoor Fell

Another smashing weekend in the the Lakes from the Little Langdale Hut gave us some superb walking straight from the door.

Blea Tarn

A veggie communal meal on the Saturday night was enjoyed by all, really yummy, so many thanks Dick for sorting and with John’s photo competition on the horizon there was lots of potential to get that winning shot with such stunning weather to be had.

Ribblehead Viaduct from Park Fell.

If that wasn’t enough walking from Selside was a bonus later in the week.

The next walk is a local walk up Simons Seat on Saturday 23rd November, followed by a walk from the Christmas Hut Meet in the Lakes at Stair. So come along to both if you get the chance and get clicking those pictures.

if anyone’s interested, I’ve a little used 50cm walking axe to give away. Grivel Mont Blanch with wrist leash. Was my wife’s but she has difficulty walking on a pavement far less snow slopes these days. Also 2 Blackdiamond turbo ice screws up for grabs. Good condition £20 and they’re yours
