Cornwall 2011
Just discovered this area.
Carol and I were in Cornwall in June and had another fantastic day at Bosigran. Only did low grade climbs but Alison Rib is always a pleasure at Diff. We followed on with In-between and ended on Kate. Both are V. Diff's but Kate has to be one of, if not the best V. Diff I ever climbed. The book describes it as steep and intimidating, and it is, but it is all there and I highly recommend it.
Gimmer .
It was a hot weekend in the Lakes but we all had a cracking day,ten members two prospective members and a guest(Eds girlfriend)turned up to climb. As expected Gimmer and sunshine means crowds, there was some queing but we all got some climbing in. Some of us stayed in the FRCC hut in Langdale and got to climb Saturday and Sunday, Thanks to every one who turned up to climb and hope to see you out on the crags soon. Cheers Mark.
Gimmer String
Hi all
Went to Gimmer crag Sunday with Martyn Lock, did Gimmer String.Great route went on all three pitches, the guide points out to start on the first pitch of Kipling Grooves which i think now would make it a better route to do, but the original is still worth doing. Great day.
Epic day on Gable.
Steve, Shirley, Joshua (prospective)and myself headed up to Gable, where me and Josh did Tophet Wall, and to say it was only Joshes second lead and his first multi pitch climb he did a brilliant job. However Steve and Shirley had problems on Tophet Bastion with route finding problems etc. When we eventually got back to the car it was 9 oclock, but it didn't end there in Ingleton we found Joshes van locked on the carpark and had to detour to Hawes I eventually hit the pillow about 2am, Now thats what I call a day out.
Wild camp & climb
Had a brilliant wild camp on Thursday night, just off Wallna Scar road and luckily not too cold. On Friday afternoon Ben (UKC) joined me at Raven crag and I led my first HVS of the season Holly tree direct,Capella next then im back into E1 hopefully. Richard we could do with being able to up load photos onto our Blogs if that is posible, I got some brilliant sunset photos.
Eastby well attended
Like the title says our first evening climbing meet was well attended, I counted 16 cars and there was wellover 20 members out on the crag. Next weeks meet at Witches has a restriction on parking (10 cars only) so car sharing where possible please,if the sun is out this crag catches it in the late afternoon so lets hope we are lucky.
